Imperfects, Seconds and Thirds - Tops
You have seen clothing in dollar stores and wonder how they can find merchandise especially clothing to sell at $1 dollar stores. Deep discounters and dollar stores profit on t-shirts, tank tops, sweatshirts and hoodies that have small visible flaws and can be sold at very low prices. These garments although damaged can produce incredible sales opportunities and represent real value to the right retail buyer. The damaged goods are also referred to as thirds, holes, gradeouts, imperfects, seconds, blemished or flawed clothing and have small visible damages. Flaws can range from small pin holes, rips, tears, seam puckering, mis-stitching and stains. All of these garments, while flawed, are still wearable and represent real value for dollar stores and deep discount retailers. These clothes are sold cheap which is especially beneficial to people in the dirty job fields like painters, welders, farmers where getting your hands and clothes dirty is part of the job. There is also demand for the product from users that repair and or re-purpose the products like arts and craft teachers where the garments are converted into caps, scarves or where additional holes and tears are added for fashion.
